Vodafone has given valuable contracts to Samsung, NEC, Dell, Wind River, and others as part of its commitment to use OpenRAN in its network.

OpenRAN gives the opportunity for smaller telecoms vendors to compete against legacy players with standards-based and interoperable equipment.

Ericsson and Samsung resolve global patent dispute with multi-year agreement

Ericsson and Samsung have resolved their high-profile global patent disputes with a multi-year agreement.

The two companies have a history of butting heads over patents. The most recent dispute began in December 2020, while the previous was in 2012 and dragged on for two years.

Huawei is the global leader in 5G patents and is now deciding how much to charge Apple and Samsung for access to its lucrative assets.
